The Irish News is expanding its media portfolio with a new business podcast called ‘Trading Up’.
Building on the success of the paper’s award-winning business coverage, the podcast will offer a fun, irreverent, and insightful weekly discussion on major business stories, combined with deep-dive analysis and engagement with business leaders.
Trading Up is hosted by experienced broadcaster and journalist Jim Fitzpatrick, who is returning to his Irish News home where he began his career on the business desk.
Jim, who is also taking up a new role as consulting editor at the Irish News, said: “Trading Up is all about delivering weekly business insight from the best. It’s going to be a space for business leaders to share their secrets of success. It will be serious and quality content, but with a fun approach.”
Each episode will include an analysis of the week’s news with input from the Irish News’ business team Gary McDonald and Ryan McAleer; a detailed look at key economic numbers; a focus on the life of a business leader; and an irreverent look at what policy idea would change the world for the better.

The podcast- which can be streamed and downloaded from all platforms - will be available each Wednesday.
In the first episode, Jim will be joined by Mark Gribbin of Setanta Construction. His firm specialises in modular factory-built housing and even built the top floors of a Mayfair hotel in at their Mid Ulster premises.
