LEGENDARY Canadian singer-songwriter Gordon Lightfoot will play his first Irish dates in more than three decades next year at Belfast Waterfront on May 31 and Dublin’s Bord Gais Energy Theatre on June 1.
The 76-year-old musical veteran will be bringing fans full band performances of signature songs like The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald, If You Could Read My Mind and Sundown along with 'deep album' cuts for the die-hard fanatics, plus plenty of anecdotes from his historic 50-year-long career besides.
It's been a busy half-century for the prolific Ontarian: to date, Lightfoot has recorded 20 albums, enjoying a staggering 55 US Top 40 hits (including five number one singles) and five Grammy nominations.
He's fared even better at home, with 16 Canadian number ones, 17 Juno Awards and an official Gordon Lightfoot postage stamp.
