A FREE concert showcasing Belfast's growing global music scene will take place in the majestic surroundings of Clonard Monastery, Belfast on Wednesday March 4.
Under the watchful eye of internationally acclaimed composer and musician Neil Martin, local and ethnic minority musicians will join singers to take the audience on a memorable musical journey through the music of India, Greece, Africa, Bulgaria, Ireland and Spain.
This annual Connections concert now in its 4th year is pioneered by ArtsEkta, Northern Ireland's leading cultural diversity charity and demonstrates how music has the power to unite cultures.
"Over recent months they have been working together on the widest possible range of genres, jamming their way through sessions involving ethnic percussion, tambura, guitar, vocals, violin, piano and the Indian sitar … all designed to help them develop and share their musical creativity and heritage," says Nisha Tandon OBE, founder and executive director of ArtsEkta.
"The result will be one of the most vibrant, exciting joyous concerts that the city has ever experienced."
The family-friendly concert will feature performances from a group of international musicians united by a passion for their chosen instruments as well as a special appearance by The Dublin African Gospel Choir.
