A TOTAL of seven Northern Ireland firms have joined the Deloitte Best Managed Companies network for the first time as the awards programme celebrates its 10th year.

In all 22 Irish companies achieved Best Managed status at the annual awards, including local businesses Almac, Around Noon, Braidwater, Creagh Concrete Products, Edge Innovate, Grant Electrical Services and Ready Egg Products. Co Tyrone manufacturing firm CDE Global was also one of only seven seven companies on the island celebrating a decade with Best Managed status.

The 22 new entrants were awarded their Best Managed status following a detailed qualification and judging process. This took into consideration the complete performance of the business, looking beyond the finances at criteria such as operational excellence, strategy and human resource processes.

Five of the new award winners were singled out for special recognition, including Newry-based food-to-go manufacturer, Around Noon.

Of the 137 companies recognised this year, Dublin, Cork and Antrim dominated the winners’ list. 40 per cent of winners are Dublin-based, while Cork and Antrim both yielded approximately 10 per cent of the winning companies.

Toomebridge-based Creagh Concrete said the award is a "proud moment" for the company.

"Our team has worked hard to raise the bar for excellence in our industry and this award is a reflection of our incredible people, teamwork and commitment to continuous improvement. It’s also testament to the unwavering support of our customers who tell us when we meet and exceed their expectations," managing director William Doherty said.

Deloitte partner, Glenn Roberts congratulated the new entries into the Best Managed Companies network.

"The programme represents companies from different industries with many industry-specific challenges but also common characteristics such as adaptability, innovation and ambition. Their stories are the stories of Irish business this past decade, and they are stories of resilience, recovery and confidence. It is pleasing to see continued strong representation from companies in Northern Ireland and we’re also proud to recognise those who have been in the programme since it began in Ireland.”
