TODAY’S eagerly-anticipated Sigerson Cup clash between Queen’s University and St Mary’s University College has fallen victim to the weather – with the rescheduled fixture set for Friday.
The round one meeting between the city rivals was due to throw-in at 2pm this afternoon at Davitt’s GAA club in west Belfast, but the cold snap that has seen temperatures slide in recent days has forced it off.
It will instead take place at the same time, and the same place, on Friday afternoon.
The weather has had a major impact on the start of the Sigerson this week, with UCD’s trip to Mardyke to face UCC one of four other games forced off, alongside University of Galway’s trip to TU Dublin (refixed for Friday at 6.15pm in Grangegorman) and TUS Midlands’ game against Maynooth University in Athlone.
ATU Galway and University of Limerick were due to meet today, but that match will instead take place on Friday (5.30pm, Liam Mellows, Galway).
The only game to go ahead so far was defending champions Ulster University’s convincing victory over ATU Sligo in Sligo on Tuesday night.
