AFTER a perfect record in this year’s championship, Ballygalget will be hoping that they can cap their season off in style with a Down hurling title.

Continuing the trend of Ards teams making the final, both teams finished first and second in the group phase of the championship, with Portaferry’s only loss coming to Ballygalget in a result that was largely unexpected.

Portaferry defeated last year’s runners-up Ballycran 1-31 to 3-14 and ‘Galget defeated Liatroim, who were without a manager after Collie Murphy left his position, 2-15 to 16 points.

This is Portaferry’s seventh final in a row and is Ballygalget’s first appearance in the senior final since they defeated their opponents this year in the 2017 final by one point.
