Antrim’s Roisín McCormick is among a select few players highlighting the commitment levels in the GAA world to former All Black captain Kieran Read.
The AIB GAA series entitled ‘The Toughest Traits’ sees the 2011 and 2015 Rugby World Cup winner tour Ireland, with McCormick set to feature in the second episode on 2 January along with Cuala and Dublin star Seán Brennan.
The camogie star opens Read’s eyes to the investment of time and emotion into our amateur games, as she balances her sporting career along with her university studies.
McCormick also goes into detail about a potentially life-changing scoliosis diagnosis as a child that threatened to derail her sporting dreams.
Famed for their humility, the dedication of the GAA world certainly does not seem to be lost on the rugby legend.
Speaking to AIB, Reid said: “I am so grateful for the opportunity to experience the passion and dedication of these incredible athletes and to the players for sharing their stories and opening up their lives to me.
“These club players represent everything that is good in sport – the commitment, the camaraderie, the sheer grit and determination. It’s truly inspiring.”
The series begins on St Stephen’s Day, 26 December, with content on AIB GAA’s YouTube channel, as well as their X, Instagram and Facebook pages.
Kerry star Jason Foley is set to feature in the series’ opener next week, along with recent All-Ireland winner Louise Ward of Kilkerrin-Clonberne, who shares stories of her life in sport and in business.
The series will have five parts in all, with the finale on 23 January.
AIB’s Chief Customer Officer, Orlaith Ryan said:
“We believe this series will resonate deeply with viewers, offering a glimpse into the heart and soul of the Gaelic Games and we can’t wait for everyone to see it.”
