DS has revealed its new flagship electric coupe SUV it calls the No8, which will be rivalling the Polestar 4 and BMW i4.

There will be a choice of two different battery packs and three different power outputs. Up first is the standard 74kWh unit with an electric motor that produces 233bhp and 345Nm of torque. DS claims that this variant can travel up to 355 miles on a single charge.

Then, there is a larger 97.2kWh unit that is available in either High range or Long range powertrains. The former comes with an electric motor that produces 248bhp and the same torque figure as the smaller battery pack, however, DS claims this version can do a total of 466 miles between trips to the plug – which is best in class. The latter comes with two electric motors and all-wheel-drive, which produces 355bhp and 511Nm of torque – while its claimed range is 426 miles.

All versions are compatible with 200kW DC charging enabling a 20 to 80 per cent top-up in 26 minutes.

Its exterior design features flush front door handles and hidden rear ones to make the body as streamlined as possible and DS says that the No8 features ‘Controlled Air Intakes’, which are air intakes with moving flaps integrated into the front bumper.

On the inside, the car features a 16-inch infotainment screen alongside a 10.25-inch driver’s display. The steering wheel incorporates an x-shape design, which follows on from the concept car and there is a double-decker floating centre console featuring the gear selector and various shortcut buttons, while below there is a large storage area. While lots of the interior’s materials are made from recycled materials.

Boot space stands at 620 litres which is bigger than its rivals from Sweden and Germany.

Prices have not been revealed yet, and order books are yet to open, but it’s likely that the No8 will cost from just over £40,000 and rise to £70,000. The car will go on sale in Europe from the middle of 2025.
