As Ireland’s only theme park and zoo is set to re-open this weekend under a new name, visitors can look forward to two brand new rides and some new animal arrivals.
Emerald Park in Ashbourne, Co Meath, formerly known as Tayto Park, will open to the public this Saturday.
The Junior Zone, for young adventurers aged three and over, boasts two brand new rides; Balloon Chase and Crazy Bus.
The zoo has welcomed a number of animals in recent months. These include energetic squirrel monkeys and two stunning sub-species of big cats, who have come to the zoo as part of the prestigious European wildlife conservation management programme, the EEP.
Bira is an ‘endangered’ Amur tiger and Freya, is a ‘critically endangered’ Amur leopard.
All of the park’s favourites, including rollercoasters, Cú Chulainn, Flight School and Dino Dash and the World of Raptors bird of prey flying demonstration remain.
However, one ride that won't be running when Emerald Park reopens is Viking Voyage due to ongoing upgrades.
Two new Ben and Jerry’s scoop shops have also been added to the park.
“We are excited to reopen the Park for the 2023 season and welcome guests new and old to Emerald Park to enjoy everything that the Park has to offer throughout the 50 acres of fun,” said Charles Coyle, General Manager of Emerald Park.
“We’ve been working hard behind the scenes to upgrade the park and we hope that everyone who comes through our doors will enjoy treasured moments big and small in the park.”
Thrillseekers can look forward to further changes in Emerald Park in the future, including two new steel rollercoasters planned to open in 2024.
To celebrate the opening weekend visitors can save up to 20% when pre-booking tickets online at Emeraldpark.ie.
