The PSNI is probing a potential link between two separate arson attacks on a business in south Belfast in the last year.
Three cars were targeted in an arson attack at Creighton’s Garage in Finaghy on Thursday evening in what police believe to be a deliberate attack.
The vehicles were set alight in a car park outside the garage, with the Fire Service extinguishing the fires a short time later.
The arson incident is the second to have occurred at the garage in the last year after six vehicles were torched at the same premises in March 2024, when accelerant was poured over the top of a fence onto the vehicles inside and set alight.
The PSNI has appealed for witnesses to the latest incident, which took place at around 7pm on Thursday evening.
A spokesperson for the PSNI said “enquiries are continuing” into the attacks, but it’s understood the force is probing a potential connection between the two.
Sinn Féin MLA Deirdre Hargey has slammed those behind the arson attack, which she said was targeted at the vehicles of those who work at the garage.
“This is an absolutely disgraceful attack on workers’ vehicles at this garage, and I want to condemn it in the strongest possible terms,” the South Belfast MLA said.
“This store provides a fantastic service to our community and employs many local people, it is entirely wrong and uncalled for that they have been targeted in this way.
“Anyone with information on this arson should contact police to ensure those involved are swiftly brought to justice.”
