Man appears in court charged in connection with Strabane assault which left victim critical

A man in his 30s has appeared in court charged in connection with a serious assault in Strabane on Monday which has left a man in critical condition.

Dylan McCrossan, 31, of Beechmount Village, Strabane, is charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent, as well as having cocaine and the Class C drug Pregabalin on the same date.

McCrossan made no reply when the charges were put to him at Strabane Magistrates’ Court on Thursday and he was remanded into custody, BBC NI reported.

The victim of the attack, also believed to be a man in his 30s, sustained significant injuries and remains in intensive care in the Royal Victoria hospital in Belfast after being transferred there from Altnagelvin.

The case is being dealt with by the major investigation team of the PSNI.

Police say the 31-year-old man was charged after the incident at a property in the Beechmount Village area of the Co Tyrone town, in the early hours of Monday morning.

A detective inspector said she believed she could connect him to the offences and there was no application for bail.
