Police have arrested a man and recovered suspected cannabis with an estimated street value of £12,000.
The PSNI confirmed the man in his 20s was arrested on Wednesday morning.
At around 10.25am officers received a report that several packages addressed to an individual were received at a business premises in the East of the city.
Upon inspection, it was believed that suspected cannabis was discovered inside.
A PSNI spokesperson said: “The suspected cannabis, with an estimated street value of £12,000 was taken away for further forensic examination.
“Subsequently, a man in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of importing a controlled drug, being concerned in the supply of a Class B Controlled drug and possession of a Class B Controlled drug. He remains in police custody at this time.
“The Police Service of Northern Ireland is committed to removing controlled drugs from our streets and investigating those involved in the supply of such drugs.
“I would ask if anyone has any information about suspected drug dealing in their area to call the non-emergency number 101. Alternatively, information can also be given anonymously to the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.”
