Man pleads not guilty to sending menacing posts to Derry mayor Lilian Seenoi-Barr

A man charged with posting menacing messages referring to Mayor of Derry Lilian Seenoi-Barr has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Kevin Barry McIntyre (31) of Miller Street in the city is charged with two counts of improper use of the electronic communications network involving messages of a menacing nature on May 2 and May 4 this year.

The messages related to Ms Seenoi-Barr who is the first black mayor in the north.

A date had been set for Wednesday for the defendant to give his attitude to the charges.

Defence solicitor Paddy MacDermott said that his client was pleading not guilty to the charges.

The solicitor told the court that he would not be requiring any witnesses in the case and a date could be fixed at the next hearing.

The case was adjourned until October 30 to fix a date for the contest.
