Two men have been released on bail after a man was left with serious head injuries in an assault in Lisburn on Saturday.
The two men, aged 31 and 28, had been arrested at the scene on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent.
Police had responded to a report of three men fighting in the Graham Gardens area at 10.25am.
When officers arrived, they discovered a man in his 30s with ‘serious wounds to his face and head’.
He was later taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries.
A spokesperson said: “It’s shocking that this should happen in the city centre in broad daylight, when the area would have been busy with families.
Police enquiries are ongoing and they are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the assault to contact them on 101, quoting reference 560 of 14/12/24.
