The Stephen Nolan show faced disruption on Friday morning after the presenter pulled out over an injury to his toe.

Listeners were told he would not be presenting minutes before the show was due to air when Good Morning Ulster presenter Chris Buckler announced he would be leaving to take over the 9am slot.

“I’m going to make a brief appeal for you now, stay listening after nine o’clock,” he said.

“I’m going to be jumping ship and going to another programme because Stephen Nolan has hurt his toe, believe it or not, that is a genuine, genuine thing.”

On Thursday evening Nolan took to social media to say that he suffered an injury when trying to move “a massive pile of floor tiles” which then landed on his foot.

He later shared a picture of his injured toe on social media.

Opening the Stephen Nolan show on Friday morning Buckler said: “If you have been taking a look at Stephen’s social media, you will find that some people have been remarking on the biggest toe in the country.

“He managed to drop a pile of tiles onto it, and as a result he’s not here this morning.

“We will try and find out how he is doing as the programme goes on, but otherwise things continue at pace.”
