A 48-year-old man arrested in connection with two sexual assaults in west Belfast has been released on bail.

The suspected was detained in connection with the assaults in the Upper Suffolk Road and Lagmore districts last week.

On Sunday a man was assaulted on the Suffolk Road after it was reported that he made remarks to a teenage girl that made her feel “uncomfortable”.

The following evening police attended a house in the Lenadoon area after an angry crowd gathered at the address.

Hours earlier damage was caused to windows and doors of a house in the Ardcaoin area of Polegass.

Police have linked the attack to reports of an assault of a man on Suffolk Road the previous day.

In a statement the PSNI said: “A 48-year-old man arrested in connection with two sexual assaults which were reported to have occurred in west Belfast on Thursday, September 26, has been released on bail to return for further questioning at a later date.”
