COALISLAND’S Fergal Quinn has reached the quarter-final of the WSF World Amateur Snooker Championship in Morocco.

Quinn, who broke his NIBSA ranking tournament duck by winning at Blackstaff in Belfast before Christmas after a series of near-misses, came through his group with a 100 per cent record, dropping only one frame in three best-of-five contests.

He brought that form into the knock-out stages with victories over Lee Tsz Ho of China (4-0), Belgium’s Olivier Pechenart (4-2) and Ong Jia Jun Jaden from Singapore (4-3).

The 24-year-old now faces Austria’s Florian Nuble on Friday for a place in the semi-finals.
