MARK Allen continued his struggles in regulation ranking events when he lost 4-2 to Jamie Jones in the first round of the BetVictor Scottish Open on Monday evening.
The world number three won the BetVictor Shoot Out on Saturday evening to gain some much-needed ranking points and ensure his place in the World Grand Prix in Leicester next month – an event which will be contested by the top 32 players on the one-year list after this week’s Edinburgh tournament.
However, on a return to the best-of-seven format, Allen was outgunned by the Welshman, who dominated after losing the first frame, firing breaks of 141, 69 and 103.

Cork’s Aaron Hill takes on Jack Lisowski Tuesday evening for a place in the last 32, while Jordan Brown will join the action against Kyren Wilson on Wednesday.
