Leeds boss Daniel Farke admitted his side were “far from perfect” in their 2-0 win at Coventry which sent them five points clear at the top of the Sky Bet Championship.
The league leaders stretched their unbeaten run to 14 matches by making the Sky Blues pay for a slack opening where they were gifted two goals.
Joel Piroe dispatched his 13th goal of the season before Oliver Dovin spilled the ball into Jayden Bogle’s path for the defender to roll home.
Illan Meslier made two fine saves to deny Bobby Thomas and Ellis Simms but the scoreline flattered the hosts in the end.
Dovin may have been at fault for Leeds’ second but he was on hand to deny certain goals from Manor Soloman, Piroe and Largie Ramazani.
Farke was particularly unhappy with his side’s inability to finish the clear-cut opportunities they created in the second half.
He said: “Happy with many details. Also with the three points, also with a fifth clean sheet in a row but also we have to speak how we were wasteful in using the chances.
“We have to be much more efficient, when you play such a strong home side you can’t waste too many chances. I want to be respectful, the 2-0 win is great.
“I’m a bit critical of our cutting edge because we missed too many one-on-ones. Against a good side it can be costly.
“This was a top-class performance from my boys so compliments for that. We were far away from a perfect performance. I can’t be too moody but far from perfect.”
Leeds are currently putting together a league-winning run of form but Farke warned his side the hard work is not done yet.
He added: “19 clean sheets is impressive, 66 points after 31 games is outstanding – probably the best we’ve ever had as a club.
“But if we right now stop winning points, with 66 points we won’t even make it in the top six, so we have to keep going.
“If we are enjoying ourselves too much and praising ourselves and are too happy then we won’t achieve anything.”
Coventry’s four-game winning streak came to an end but Frank Lampard accepted his side were beaten by the better team.
He said: “They deserved to win the game and sometimes you have to accept that, they are top of the league for a reason.
“We shouldn’t be too negative about it because we’ve been on a good run but today showed a bit of a different level.
“We knew we came into a tough game today, you want to win but Leeds are in a good moment and there will be things we can do better for sure. One game we have to take on the chin.
“They’re a fantastic team, lots of talent, lots of speed, Premier League experience and I’m really impressed with them. Sometimes you have to praise a team that come here and play well.”
